~ He is nOiSy!!! He is almost always making some kind of sound, obviously crying is one of them, but he mostly grunts and growls, snorts and sighs (but these sighs are very breathy and almost like a groan). He likes to whistle and sing in his sleep. Not only that but his bodily noises could rival most adults!! Haha!
~ He doesn't like the cold (not that surprising...who does?). When we give him baths he is okay for most of it except for when we have to move him from his clothes to the bath or bath to towel...because that requires our cold hands to touch his back. He is getting better though, as long as our hands are warm when we transfer him he's pretty much stopped crying :)
~ He s a little grease monster...I remember Lucy getting dried out and we always had to put lotion on her after her baths -- she still has dry skin. But our little man doesn't ever need lotion. His hair gets greasy by the end of the day, and his face sometimes glistens..hahaha.
~ He LOVES sounds - even better than he likes voices - I try to calm him by talking to him and it DOESN"T work...not even a little bit. Unless I'm telling him he gets to eat :D So I've been having to practice making sounds and experimenting with different things. I feel really silly sometimes but I guess you've gotta do what you've gotta do, right?
~ Cole prefers men to women...at least to me anyways. Example: Cole cries and cries and cries. Mommy tries to calm and console him by talking to him, making sounds, bouncing him, laying him down, anything and everything other than feed him (because it's not time yet). In comes Daddy, who picks up Cole and starts yelling at him (okay that sounds bad--he's not yelling at him but talking to him loudly). And guess what? IMMEDIATELY Cole is quiet. And happy, and interested. Is Mommy just a little jealous?? OF COURSE!!
~ Coles LOVES to eat. He would eat every hour if I let him. I make him wait at least 2 hours. Because I already feel like I feed him every hour and a half because feeding time is 30 mins. So, 20-30 mins before the 2 hour limit he wakes up and starts fussing cause he wants to eat. But THEN, when I do feed him he'll eat for 5-10 mins and fall right to sleep. So I have to change his diaper and wake the kid up so he'll eat more so he can make it the 2 hours....Oh boy, he cracks me up.
~ He is already smiling! I know people say that when babies smile it''s because of gas bubbles moving through their system...I don't buy it. This kid really does smile. Some times it's a little crooked, but those kind are my favorite!
~ Our little man is very strong. With in minutes of being born this kid could lift his head. When we hold him in a sitting position he has ALMOST perfect control of his head. He can hold it for a ridiculously long time, for his age. For tummy time, at 2 -3 weeks he could lift his head and turn it from side to side. When he straightens his legs he can hold his whole body weight on them. ( I could keep going, but I don't know if any of you even care about this.....I think he is amazing, but I am also his Mom).
I love him! he's so different from Lucy in so many ways. Having children is such a cool experience, especially since each one of them is unique and special in their own way. I'm so grateful for my children and for all that I learn from them.
