First Painting Project

Among our many wedding gifts were two framed pictures of fish...At first I have to admit I thought it was really weird. I had no idea where I would put them. Over the last couple of years I just decided I would put them up in our bathroom. I liked this idea, for some reason they just seem to "fit" there. But as I've started putting pictures up in our apartment I realized I really didn't like the white frames on the white wall. I felt it detracted from the overall look of the pictures and the room.
Since we had also recently made some clay imprints of Lucy's feet and hands, I decided Lucy and I should have fun painting. I was a little worried it would become a big mess so we prepped by putting newspaper all over the kitchen floor, Lucy got to wear an old T-shirt of mine, and I made sure that there was a wet washcloth handy--just in case of emergencies.
This is how our project began
If the walls weren't white I think I would like these pictures as they are,Fir
but we will most likely have white walls for the next few years so they needed a little something more.
She even got to pick out the color she was going to use...
I was amazed she didn't react more aversely to having paint on her...she usually doesn't like things that stick to her hands or skin. I think the fact that she was the one putting it there might have made a difference, or maybe it was just the fact that we were both painting things..who knows?
She got a little more excited when she realized what was happening!
This is really all she got on herself--besides an accidental swipe on her face (couldn't get a picture because she was about to rub it all in her eyes). Not surprisingly I got a lot more on myself, or should I say she got a lot more on me. I had paint all over my arms and legs and I'm pretty sure I ended up with stuff on my face too!
Here it is all finished! What do you think?
On the right it reads, 30 DEC...
I know it's a little hard to make out but this was my first try at something like this
so I'm not too worried about it :)

So what do you think? I'm having some second thoughts about the yellow one, I think the blue is fun because there's a stronger contrast in colors, but the yellow doesn't look as good as I wanted it to. I'm thinking of redoing the white with orange and making the spots more rounded...I haven't quite decided yet and it all depends on if I ever get around to feeling up to redoing it. And if it bugs me enough :)

  1. The polka dots are so fun! :) And I think it's so great that you got Lucy in on the painting, too. Plus--she's wearing a fabulous shirt! So fun.

  2. Actually, the yellow was the first one I saw as I was scrolling down and I my first reaction was that it is really cute. You don't need to redo it. I think it is pretty typical to see how we could improve something we made ourselves, but I think they both look fantastic, and Lucy looks so cute helping with it.
