Sometimes we just need to play

I am a big believer in fostering opportunities for you children to learn to play by themselves. I also have learned that we are all happier if I keep the house clean. Besides this I think it is important for them to see Mom doing work. So that they learn the balance of work and play. Don't get me wrong I do LOVE to play with my children. We play a lot. This last week we were sick, and one of the days I wasn't up to doing anything so we just played all day. It was really fun! It really did almost feel like a party all day...almost, except for the fact that we were all sick :D
I made bubbles while the kids were sleeping..i've tried this several times and have failed miserably. They never make bubbles, it's just sticky water. But this time it actually worked. We tried it outside but it was too windy so we tried again inside.
Here he is in his yoga pose again! Haha!
Lucy poking each individual one with her fingertips. It was fun to see some of them pop right away and others she could stick her finger almost through the bubble before it gave way.
These bubbles were crazy! They stuck to our carpet for a VERY long time! So we blew lots of them really fast and watched them.
Then they stuck their faces in them
Smashed them with their hands, feet, elbows, etc.
And we ran through them as well! ;) So much fun! We've done this everyday over the last few days.
Jumping on the trampoline is one of our daily activities. The kids love it. Lucy has always been pretty brave and jumped around all by herself. She likes to bounce really high now and asks me to bounce her. She has always been our little thrill seeker :)
Cole has finally worked up the courage to walk around on his own on the tramp. I've always just held him while we jumped because he didn't like to get down on his own.
But now he'll happily run around while we bounce!
I have no idea what they were doing in this picture. But it is really cute.
This little girl gets AIR!
We pretty much always encounter a bug of some sort or another while we are outside. As soon as one is spotted Lucy will yell to me that she found one while Cole drops to the ground to get a closer look. It is the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Lucy never touches them with her hands. She'll poke at them with sticks and leaves and pour dirt on them, but she'll never touch. Cole on the other hand will touch, sit, smash, lick (yes, he tries to lick the ground) and sometimes even eat(he will eat anything!) the bugs. Very gross....we're working on putting a stop to that, but I don't see it changing any time soon!
He's got the Rollie Pollie in his fingers.
