We got RABBITS!!!
It took a couple of weeks after snowball passed away to decide what kind of pet we should get...almost got a cat...we were pretty close to deciding on a dog...but in the end we decided we'd just work slowly up in size :)

They are Dutch bunnies. Brothers and we just love them! It has been fun to figure out their personalities and get to know them a little bit better.

The kids have gotten better at understanding how to hold them and what kind of behavior is appropriate around rabbits...for example they don't really appreciate lions chasing them around their pen or pounding feet throughout the house :)
We discovered that you can litter train rabbits! Who knew? So while they are mostly outside creatures we have litter trained them so we can bring them in on hot days or when it is too stormy (and I imagine they will join us indoors during our negative degree days in the winter).
It has been fun so far to have them! We have been training them to come when they are called and hop up on our laps! And we all enjoy the fact that they don't bite as hard as hamsters.
