We flew mom out to visit for a week! It was a lot of fun to have her here and for the kids to build their relationship with her. I was amazed at how quickly Sadie warmed up and loved Mom.
First things first we all painted nails. Mom had some fun sparkly nail polish on and when the kids saw it they insisted on painting nails.
We got to celebrate Mom's birthday while she was here!
We swam a couple of times! It was hot, and muggy and sticky the first couple of days mom was here so we swam and enjoyed some outside time. Looking back I'm glad we endured it because we had a lot of stormy weather while she was here.
We showed her the sights (j/k), the library and our favorite park to play at.
Since the weather was stormy we didn't get to go to a few of the places we wanted but it was nice to play at the house. All the kids wanted to do was play with Grandma. Whenever I walked in the room, they'd look at me and say, "Hi mom" and wait to see if I was going to tell them it was time to stop playing....
I had heard about a Children's Museum about about an hour south of here that was a lot of fun and not too expensive. The last day mom was here we decided to head down and check it out.
I'm so glad we did it was really fun! Sadie played at this station for a long long time.
Cole did surgery and tried to figure out where all the parts went. Mom said they discovered two hearts! haha!
This is where the kids spent most of their time. Playing on this track with the farm animals and people and cars. It wasn't as crowded as most of the other stations so that was nice for everyone too.
Cole humored me and put on the cow horns :)
There was a little theatre area where the kids could dress up and put on shows! It was crowded and busy almost he whole time we were there but near the end they got a chance to try on what they wanted and put on a short show for us.
Cole really wanted to be a dragon and later found a scepter that was pretty cool.
There was this neat painting wall. Where the kids could squeegee off their paint and start all over again. I loved this idea.
Since you can't really tell in the video I'll explain. Everytime you tapped on one of the circles a drum beat or musical sound would come out of the speakers directly above each circle. Sadie played here for almost 10 minutes and probably would have stayed longer if I didn't move her on to the next station.
Super sticky marshmallows are all the rage :)
Sadie's new 'cheese' face...
Grandma June and Lucy enjoying their roasted marshmallows together.
The roasters quickly became swords and weapons (as you might imagine)
Sadie helping herself to seconds--or maybe it was thirds :)
We had such a smoky fire because it had been stormy all week so Devin was manning the fire trying to keep the smoke down.
I included these because Lucy's face in all three just makes me laugh so hard...she didn't like being close to the fire and they took so long to cook she was a little put out I think.
The games these kids come up with sometimes...
So so so SO glad we got to have Mom out for a visit. It is always so nice to see family :) The kids keep asking where Grandma June went and when she will be back :)
We love you Grandma June!!
