I did it!!

So for the last two or three months I have been making my own laundry soap! It's SUPER cheap, and I cannot believe how clean my clothes are. Seriously, I've compared this to store bought stuff and it really gets things out. For the last little while I've just been using it in powder form. Borax, washing soda, and fels-naptha soap. You can find the recipe right here.    But, it's SUPER annoying to grate the soap and it takes way to long-- this lady grated it a lot bigger than I did, I found it works better if it's grated really small using the zest grater thingy-- anyways, I ended up just grating a little for each load...which isn't really cost effective, because I had no idea how much I was really putting into each load.
SO, finally last weekend I buckled down and made some of the liquid soap (here is the recipe for that kind).

It got really foamy on top and took overnight to settle down.
The finished product on my shelf! I like it in this form. It's a lot easier to work with. But it's really really thick....I think next batch I will try a little more water and see if I can thin it out a little more....right now it's plop-ing out of the jug :)

And because what fun is a blog post with no little kid pictures???

NO FUN AT ALL :)

Here are some pictures from playing bubbles yesterday!
We were trying to catch them on our feet!
Pretty sure Cole just likes watching them fall down.
Here he is trying to catch one!
Oh yeah, don't mind the red eye...I'm really lazy with photo editing and don't like going through and fixing that! So, pardon the evil eyes on the kids and just enjoy the pics!

  1. NICE! I've only made one batch so far and I have it in the powdered form. I mixed in some OxyClean, as well. I didn't want to have to go through all the melting on the stove and stuff. But now maybe I should! :)

    1. So far, I would say it's worth it to melt it all together. It took me about 40 mins from start to finish. So not too long! Could be done during naptime if their naps coincide :) How are your little ones doing?
